Pakistan
In
1969, I left the RAF College Cranwell and went on a one year exchange posting as
a flying instructor to the Pakistan Air Force Academy at Risalpur in the North
West Frontier Province, a magnificent location right on the southern edge of the
Himalayas, midway between Islamabad and Peshawar. This image, taken in early
1970, is what faced me on the way from Peshawar along the Grand Trunk Road as I
approached the the Tribal Territories and the Khyber Pass. The buttons
on the left lead to a number of anecdotes about my year. |
