A short visit to Kuria Muria - Tony Cunnane's Life and Times

During my tour of duty in the Sultan of Oman's Air Force (1984-6) I visited many fascinating places but usually without my camera. However, during an attachment to the base at Salalah, I was able to go on a short day trip to the Kuria Muria Islands in a SOAF Skyvan. There are five islands, situated 40km off the south-eastern coast of the Sultanate of Oman. If you are not familiar with them, try this Wikipedia article (opens in a new window).

Below are a few photographs I was privileged to be allowed to make whilst fresh supplies of food and medical items were being off-loaded. I was permitted to use my camera on condition that I did not include any people in the shots. Click on any image to pop up a larger version.
